About Our Services

The Library aims to provide a full and friendly service to all its member and non-member visitors. Staff at our main issue desk on Level 2 can help you with general questions about our services, events and facilities, which include:

  • Internet Access (Levels 2 & 4)
  • Wi-Fi Access (Levels 2 & 4)
  • Microfilm reader/printers (Level 4)
  • Photocopiers (Levels 4)
  • Toilets (Levels 1 & 3)
  • Research Enquiries (Level 4)

Internet Access

Internet terminals are available in General Lending (Level 2 - exclusive to members), and Irish & Reference (Level 4). This is free to members, but there is a charge of £1.50 per 1/2 hour for non-members. Detailed guidelines for use are available at the terminals and Library staff will help you with any other queries.

Wi-Fi Access

We have free Wi-Fi in the Library, with 2 separate ‘hot spots’ throughout the building - General Lending (Level 2) and Irish & Reference (Level 4).

Members: £1 per card (10 x A4 copies, 6 x A3 copies)
Non-members: £2 per card (10 x A4 copies, 6 x A3 copies)

Each card will allow A4 and A3 sheets to be taken up to the limit of the value of the card (2 units per A4 and 3 units per A3 copy). If a value remains on a card which is less than the cost of a copy, that value can be transferred to a new card.

Colour photocopies are now available in the Library:
Members 50p per A4 copy / £1 per A3 copy
Non-members £1 per A4 copy / £2 per A3 copy

Please enquire at the General Services counter on Level 2.  As this service is subject to Library use, there may be some delay in processing your request.

The Library is open free for all to visit. All visitors are welcome to access our collections, and staff are always on hand to help. Admission to the Library is free, but donations from visitors are needed to support the Library's work.

Other Services

Wheelchairs - Full disabled access and facilities (via Fountain Street entrance).
Guide Dogs - Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs for deaf people are welcome.
Loop System - A loop induction system is available in the Performance Area on Level 3.

Baby Care

Nappy-changing facilities are available in the disabled toilet on Level 2.

We actively welcome children and for our young readers we provide a reading space on Level 2 with picture books, easy readers and jigsaws to entertain while the rest of the family browse for books. The Library does not operate a silence policy in this area.
