Stand With Hope

14th May – 9:30 am - 31st May – 5:30 pm

The Linen Hall is delighted to welcome Hope the Lego Suffragette, a life-size model on loan from the Houses of Parliament. Crafted from an impressive 32,327 Lego bricks and assembled by 3 people over 171 hours, this remarkable installation serves as a powerful reminder of the struggles and triumphs of the women’s suffrage movement. You can find Hope proudly displayed on Level 2 inside The Linen Hall.

We invite you to engage with Hope as an opportunity to celebrate women’s voices, reflect on the journey of women’s suffrage, and contemplate broader issues around equality. There are numerous ways for you to participate:

  • Come and Stand with Hope: Bring your children, friends and family to stand alongside Hope. Take a selfie with her and reflect on the courage and commitment of the women who tirelessly campaigned and made sacrifices to secure the vote for women.
  • Be Inspired: Take a moment to consider what actions you can take to promote equality. Explore ‘Changemakers’, a Linen Hall exhibition on Student Activism, on display at the Vertical Gallery throughout May, for further insight and inspiration.
  • Join the Discussion: Use the hashtag #StandwithHope to engage in conversations about women’s rights and equality.

Alongside this exhibit, we have curated a programme of events across May that highlight women’s voices.
