Implementing the Agreement

21st April – 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

£5.00 – £6.50
Lord John Alderdice, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, Carmel Hanna, Alex Maskey and Quintin Oliver at The Linen Hall for the event 'Implementing the Agreement'.

Panel Conversation

While negotiating teams endorsed the Agreement in April 1998, the electorate had to approve the Agreement by referendum. On 22nd May 1998, 81% of the electorate turned out, 71% of whom voted in favour of the agreement. Nevertheless, it would take until December 1999 for full powers to be devolved to the first Northern Ireland Assembly. What happened between April 1998 and December 1999? Join us for a panel discussion on the referendum, its competing sides, and the eventual implementation of devolution. Participants include Lord John Alderdice, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, Carmel Hanna, Conor Murphy and Quintin Oliver.

This conversation will be chaired by Professor Marie Coleman.

Friday 21st April, 6pm | Performance Area | £6.50 / £5.00 (Members)
