And while the children are being entertained, adults can browse the bookshelves or relax in our café (event suitable for 4 to 7 year olds).
Arthur Campbell, Artist and Photographer - Wednesday 25 November – Saturday 19 December / Exhibition/Free The Linen Hall Library celebrates the birth centenary of Ulster artist and photographer Arthur Campbell, noted for his ‘remarkable perception’. He was one of a family of artists which included his brother George and mother Gretta Bowen. Arthur left school at 15 after his father died and took a job in a Belfast printing firm. He attended night school and eventually secured the job of Advertising Manager at the Harry Ferguson (Motors) Company where he worked for many years. During his time there he designed the well –known Massey Ferguson badge which is still seen on tractors today and is highly collectable.
The exhibition will be hung in the Library’s Vertical Gallery.
Linen Hall Reading Group - Thursday 26 November/1.10pm/Free Everyone is invited to join the Linen Hall’s popular reading group that meets on the last Thursday of every month. This month’s title is The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs by Irvine Welsh.
Walsh’s book is a gothic parable about the great obsessions of our time: food, sex and minor celebrity; and is a brilliant examination of identity, male rivalry and the need to belong to the world.
